Paul Third is an experienced audio engineer, musician & songwriter who in recent years has gained popularity within the audio world for being a trusted and highly knowledgeable audio engineer. Paul spent 4 years in audio education (2 year HND at Adam Smith College & 2 year Honours Degree at Abertay University) and since graduating in 2014 Paul has devoted himself in further learning the intricate art of recording and mixing at a professional industry level.

Paul’s Youtube channel has more than 22,000 subscribers and amassed an incredible 3 million+ views and continues to to grow strength by strength.

During the last 3 years Paul has managed to network with some amazing names within the audio and music industry which has enabled him to learn from some of the best engineers in the world. That network also includes many trusted audio manufacturers which enables Taysound to offer artists some of the best modern audio equipment out there today.

“My main aim in building this amazing facility is to offer a professional but relaxed environment for artists to be immersed in their own creativity without feeling the pressure of being in a confined creative conveyor belt. That’s OK, go for a walk in the beautiful secluded Scottish countryside and come back with a fresh mind, or just nip 2 minutes down the road for a pint at the Errol pub or a coffee at Lass of Gowrie (amazing cakes btw!). Its all on the village door step and I’ll be here for you when you come back because It’s not about when you get there, its about how! The time it takes is the time it takes. We should never put a limit on the creative process and when you invest your money and time with me, we’ll take the time to ensure that your next project is finished to your satsfaction!”

Each speaker is correctly time aligned, level matched using Sonarworks Immersive for optimum balance and frequency response.

The Atmos room uses 7x Kali LP8 (Front & Surround), 4x Kali LP6 (Overheads) & Kali WS6.2 subwoofer. Includes working projector & screen

AUDIENT ORIA INTERFACE (DOLBY ATMOS CERTIFIED)

All the speakers are routed and controlled via ORIA which stores calibration on the unit. Also streams Dolby Atmos (Apple music, Apple TV)

Binaural Check - £50 per mix

If you want to mix in binaural but are cautious about how it will translate to atmos speaker setups then I offer translation checks where I give feedback on any translation issues I may hear and provide feedback. 3 revisions per mix.

Atmos room hire - £250 (8 hrs)

Taysound doesn’t offer dry hire of any of the rooms but we do offer a unique service where YOU sit in the sweet spot and direct the session. You don’t need to know how to mix atmos, you tell Paul what you want and he will deliver!

Atmos experience - £25 p/h

MENTORING

Due to their not being a lot of one to one mentorship opportunities in the community, especially in the UK, Paul has made the decision to offer a one to one mentoring program for those who are starting their journey in audio and cant access treated mix rooms (including Atmos) with class leading Digital to Analog conversion. This can be either in person at the studio or online via Riverside streaming (Google Chrome browser required).

Do you have questions that the internet cant answer? Is Youtube and online forums confusing you? Do you want someone to give you feedback on your mixes? Do you want to learn the basics of audio? Do you want to check your mixes on tons of expensive monitoring? Do you want to sit in on a session? Do you need help or advice with your next home recording project? Do you want honest advice on your next big audio purchase? DO YOU JUST WANT TO TALK TO A HUMAN BEING AND NOT JUST WORDS ON A SCREEN!??

Then this may be just the program for you. And when we say “program”, we mean YOUR program. You dictate the pace, you choose the topic matter and Paul will try and give you everything that his Autistic Rainman brain has rabbit holed over the last 10+ years. If theres something he cant answer then he’ll simply tap into his network of industry professional mix and mastering engineers, or simply rabbit hole some more so you can scratch that infuriating audio itch!

With the ever changing climate, its not common nowadays to learn in a fully purpose studio from a trusted audio engineer with an honours degree in Audio Production. If we take Paul as an example, he is still learning with every project he undertakes and whilst not an industry icon, there is definitely a wealth of knowledge and experience on tap that can provide support, not just in Scotland, but around the world!

Podcasting

Taysound can also provide recording and editing facilities for podcasting. The live room is directly linked to the control room so we can record your next podcast episode without you having to worry about anything. all you need to do is turn up and we'll record the rest.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   .
 
 

Pricing

  • This covers 4 or 8 working hours of recording.

    8 hour day is between 10am - 7pm

    4 hour day is either 10am - 2pm / 3pm - 7pm

    (1 hour of that time is to cater for 1 hour break)

  • Includes recording & mix (stereo & atmos)

  • This price is for the completion of 1 full song. This includes recording, production, mixing (stereo & atmos), mastering & drum recordings via Ed Thorne

  • This price covers a maximum of 10 songs to be recorded, produced, mixed (inc Atmos), mastered.

    If you require drum recordings via Ed Thorne then price will be £5000

  • Whether its stereo or atmos, the fee will be £300 per mix.
